First Day of School!

Image
We always do a first day of school photo. Here's mine!          Monday  was the first day of school! My sister and I always say that the first week of school and the last week of school are the best weeks of the entire school year. By the first week of school, we are excited to get back into a routine, and we have a fresh perspective as we start new curriculum. By the last week of school, we are ready for a break, and it's rewarding as we finish subjects early.     This week has been wonderful. Even though psychology seems to last forever, I don't feel like I'm in such a rush to finish it, since my other subjects take much less time to complete.       I'm currently reading 'Mornings on Horseback' by David McCullough for literature. It's about President Theodore Roosevelt. I wrote an essay on a Bible verse relating to the qualities a ruler should possess. I chose Proverbs 17:7, which reads:  "E xcellent speech is not f...

Final Weekend of Summer Break!

Image
My school books for the upcoming year. I can't wait!      Okay, so this may sound crazy, but we are starting back to school on Monday! I know we're probably crazy, but I don't actually love summer. It is hot and humid here in the Lowcountry starting in April. So, by the time July gets here, I'm tired of summer. I would much rather be inside doing school than outside sweating or swimming.      Like I mentioned in my last post, I am homeschooled, and I'm a junior in high school. I still can't believe that I only have two more years before I graduate! It feels so weird!      Since I'm in the eleventh grade, I already have most of my high school credits. This means that I'm only taking a few courses this year, compared to the several I took my freshman and sophomore years. Here are courses I'm taking:  Math- Probability and Statistics; I've done this over the summer as a dual enrollment course, so I'm getting high school and college credit f...

Welcome to 'The Lowcountry Ruby!'

Proverbs 31:10 "An excellent woman, who can find? For her worth is far more than rubies."      This is what I want to be. I want to grow up to be a God-fearing, excellent, priceless woman. In order to be that, however, I need to be a God-fearing, excellent, priceless teenager. So that'll be my goal for right now.      Hi! My name is Alyssa Wells! I'm a Christian teenager living in the breath-taking lowcountry of South Carolina. Just in case you don't already know me, here are a few fun facts about me: 1.      I am Type 1 Diabetic, and have been for four years. This means that my pancreas doesn't produce the hormone insulin, which regulates the amount of glucose in my blood. As a result, I have an insulin pump, which is pretty much self-explanatory, as well as a continuous glucose monitor, which makes sure I have enough-but not too much-glucose in my blood. Me and my little sis, Annie Grace. She's my best friend!  2.   ...
