Final Weekend of Summer Break!

My school books for the upcoming year. I can't wait! |
Okay, so this may sound crazy, but we are starting back to school on Monday! I know we're probably crazy, but I don't actually love summer. It is hot and humid here in the Lowcountry starting in April. So, by the time July gets here, I'm tired of summer. I would much rather be inside doing school than outside sweating or swimming.
Like I mentioned in my last post, I am homeschooled, and I'm a junior in high school. I still can't believe that I only have two more years before I graduate! It feels so weird!
Since I'm in the eleventh grade, I already have most of my high school credits. This means that I'm only taking a few courses this year, compared to the several I took my freshman and sophomore years. Here are courses I'm taking:
- Math- Probability and Statistics; I've done this over the summer as a dual enrollment course, so I'm getting high school and college credit for it.
- Social Studies- American Government and Economics; this is split up so I do Government the first half of the year, and economics the second half.
- Science- Marine Biology; I'm praying over trying to CLEP out of doing Biology in college if I do well in this course, since I've already done regular Biology.
- English- Advanced Literature; Some books I'll be reading include 'The Portrait of a Lady' by Henry James, 'Watership Down' by Richard Adams, and 'Jane Eyre' by Charlotte Brontë. I can't wait!
- Electives-
- AP Psychology- While I'm not sure exactly what I want to do longterm, all of the careers I'm interested in require taking college Psychology. The course I'm doing is from a Christian perspective, so I'd definitely rather take this one than one from a public college.
- Bible- I'm going to use John MacArthur's 'Romans,' and our church participates in the AWANA ministry, so I'll do one of their high school books starting in September.
- Music- I sing in two different choirs at my church, so that gives me a full high school credit.
I'll let y'all know on Monday or Tuesday how the first day goes. I'm truly excited to get back in my regular routine. Thanks for reading!
With His Love,
Alyssa
