First Day of School!

We always do a first day of school photo. Here's mine! |
Monday was the first day of school! My sister and I always say that the first week of school and the last week of school are the best weeks of the entire school year. By the first week of school, we are excited to get back into a routine, and we have a fresh perspective as we start new curriculum. By the last week of school, we are ready for a break, and it's rewarding as we finish subjects early.
This week has been wonderful. Even though psychology seems to last forever, I don't feel like I'm in such a rush to finish it, since my other subjects take much less time to complete.
I'm currently reading 'Mornings on Horseback' by David McCullough for literature. It's about President Theodore Roosevelt. I wrote an essay on a Bible verse relating to the qualities a ruler should possess. I chose Proverbs 17:7, which reads: "Excellent speech is not fitting for a fool, much less are lying lips to a prince."
My government lessons this week were concerning God's view on government. After all, He is the One who appoints rulers. It's encouraging to know that even in this crazy world, He is in control.
In Marine Biology, I studied the natural habitat of marine life: the ocean itself! I've learned how salinity affects the creatures of the ocean as well as water's density. I've learned about how oceans are formed, and it's remarkable to see His Hand in creation.
On a closing note, I'm looking forward to the rest of the school year. I hope it's as good as this week has been!
With His Love,
Alyssa
